Homemade Mixtape on Patreon / Hppy Brthdy DMP

Updated: Mar 28

Bonjour chers amis, funny story: I bought a topical cream from my local hemp dispensary to treat my fractured rib. It is really helping, but I've had the strangest medical reaction. Since applying I've been "extra," and certain actions have only now come to my attention.*

For instance, not only did I launch a Patreon subscription service, but made an incredible Mixtape as a Birthday present to myself! Have you been listening? As the true greatest generation, Zeta, would say, it FUCKS; and can be enjoyed on the excellent, ethical, and sonically enlightening Drvmcircle Patreon!

And yet, the surprises keep coming: I unearthed an incredible 2010 mixtape around the theme of "Homemade," which is special for many reasons. Unlike the others, this could reasonably described as "indie," which was short for independent rock music? Whatever, what I'm attempting to signify are the sweeping harmonies, plucked string tones, and sounds that move me to tears contained herein. For fans of: Broadcast, Judee Sill, Arthur Russell, Karen Dalton, DJ Screw.

More importantly, this came about because I was asked to make a mix for a certified creative genius on the occasion of the project, Nothing is New. I am still treating with the topical hemp cream so apologies to the parties involved for any missing details. Having said that, I recall the idea of "homemade," i.e. home audio recording, reflected the theme of making collage landscapes with found objects through analogue means. Reminds me of one of my favorite songs.

Lastly, thank you to all my loved ones who gave DMP the most Dance-y, Majick-y, & Priestess-y Birthday ever! I am eternally grateful to Principal Dancer Viktorina Kapitonova and the Boston Ballet for letting me witness the greatest artistic, poetic, and physical feat imaginable, one that has been performed for audiences for over 200 years: the 32 Fouettes by Odette/Odile in Swan Lake. Some might say Ballet is the poetry of motion, but for me it is much more. For me, it is a religion. The Boston Ballet allowed me, once again, to commune with the divine! Hppy Brthdy DMP!

*It is technically possible that through an odd medical interaction and myriad strange factors I was in a "Serotonin Mania," a known phenomena when mixing MDMA and certain anti-depressants. But, this sounds exactly like propaganda from the hemp industry, so I'll assume it's the cream. I did my research!
